CFA Institute Research Challenge
The Whitworth Student Investment Group has participated in the CFA Institute Research Challenge since 2015 (with the exception of 2021) and has won the local round of the competition every year in which it has competed. The competition is an annual international equity research challenge that requires teams to analyze and value companies and provide an investment recommendation.
In 2024, WSIG advanced all the way to the Regional Semifinal round of the competition. To note, the Challenge is global, so the Regional Semifinals included teams from North and South America.

Forum for the past several years. This conference is attended by over 130 universities and 1,500 attendees with a multitude of keynote speakers, panelists, and hosts for three days of lectures, breakout sessions, panels, workshops, and opportunities to gain deeper insight into the financial service industry from professionals and news commentators.
In 2024, for the first time, WSIG participated in the G.A.M.E. Forum Portfolio Competition. WSIG placed 2nd in the Poster Session, which involved schools showcasing their portfolios and comparing performance during the past year.

Community Engagement
WSIG is dedicated to engage in community outreach events that serve others, in alignment with Whitworth University’s key values. In the past few years, WSIG has worked in collaboration with Rockwood Retirement Community, Ronald McDonald House, and the Salvation Army. To name just a few contributions our team has made to the community in the past few years, the WSIG partnered with the Village Center Cinemas to host a fundraiser film night in honor of the victims of Hurricane Harvey, organized a concert fundraiser for Hurricane Florence, and in the spring of 2018, hosted the first Annual Whitworth Investment Conference. These events gave our team the opportunity to engage with high school students in the Spokane area and experience working with a variety of businesses and organizations in the greater Spokane community. While our main focus is portfolio management, our greater purpose is to serve the community that surrounds us. Therefore, not only do we invest in the financial market, but we also make an effort to invest in the local community around us.
